About us

The C.S.V meets regularly in Melbourne, conducts regular workshops in calligraphy and complementary arts, organises exhibitions, and generally supports and promotes calligraphy and excellence in lettering. Our aim is: “the love of, and appreciation of calligraphy”.

Our impressive and information magazine Postscript is posted to members six times a year in a hand-lettered envelope. Many of our regional, interstate, and international members join purely to receive Postscript. Various members have been involved in lettering these envelopes, some for many years, and the results are a joy to receive.
The CSV’s members include professional lettering artists, commercial calligraphers, tutors and hobbyists and their interests range from the most traditional types of calligraphy, to contemporary and experimental forms.

We invite you to browse this site – which contains information about our society, membership, current events, workshops and other relevant topics – and to consider joining the CSV.
Quarterly Meetings usually feature guest speakers or free mini workshops, while many of our rural, interstate and international members join purely to receive Postscript. we have an extensive Library of calligraphy books and journals available to borrow plus a Calligraphic Art Collection - a selection of artworks is regularly on display at meetings.
