This is a three-day Zoom workshop
Gothic lettering, also referred to as Blackletter, is a script used from around 1150 until well into the 17th century. Characterised by tall vertical letters and a dense textural appearance it is an excellent script for beginners allowing a great sense of formality to their work.
In this course we will study the structure and construction of the letters and investigate some of the many beautiful and elegant variations. We will produce the lower-case alphabet, work with spacing, layout and variations and ultimately create a finished piece of work.
Classes will be recorded and available for 3 months.
Exemplars and handouts will be emailed as required.
If you have already had some instruction but wish to refresh your skills, you are most welcome to join the class.
